Jimmie Moore won five football State Championships. Two in Mississippi, at Hamilton High School, and three at Colbert County, in Alabama. Moore landed his first head coaching job at New Hope High School in Mississippi in 1965. He remained with the program for the next three seasons before taking over the football program at Hamilton.

Jimmie Moores Hamilton Lions, accomplished the unbelievable feat of going through the 1977 season without allowing a point. The team went on two years later to start a winning streak that stretched to 51 games until Oct. 7, 1983, when New Hope ended the streak with a 35-14 victory.

In 1976, the Lions only loss was a 23-12 setback to archrival New Hope in the second game of the year. The following week, Hamilton slipped by Mooreville 14-8. Mooreville proved to be the last team to score against the Hamilton defense, as the Lions shutout their next seven opponents to finish 9-1 in 1976.

After 10 shutouts in 1977, Hamilton opened the 1978 season with a 6-0 win against Caledonia. The unscored on streak ended at eighteen games against New Hope when the two teams fought to a 20-20 tie in the Lions second game of the year. Hamilton outscored its opponents 673-0 during the streak, including 375-0 in 1977.

Coach Moore never had a losing season at Hamilton but his complete record at Hamilton is incomplete at this time.

His Hamilton Lions won the Class BB title in 1981 and the Class B championship the following season. Coach Moore left Hamilton after the 1983 season to become the head football coach at rival New Hope. In seven seasons his teams finished 36-30-1 and made three playoff appearances.

Following the 1990 season Coach Moore retired from the football field, or so he thought. The retirement didnt last long as he went to Aliceville High School, in Alabama, in 1991 as the defensive coordinator until he took over for Steve Carter at Colbert County High School in 1993.

Coach Moores record at Colbert County was 91-30 in nine seasons at the helm. His teams went 27-6 in the playoffs and won seven region titles. His teams won State Championships in 1993, 1994 and 1996. They finished as runner-ups in 1997 and 2000.

Moores record in Mississippi was 226-75-5 while his Alabama slate was 91-30. Combined his record is 317-105-5 for a winning percentage of 74.9%. Coach Moore suffered from cancer late in his coaching career and died shortly after retiring from the sidelines.
